Nigel Nussey

Message Received from Mike Morley - 21 November 2025

I received a card from Nigel's widow Sheila, advising that Nigel died on Thursday 13th November following extended treatment for cancer.

Nigel's funeral will be held on Wednesday 10th December at Wessex Vale Crematorium SO30 2HL at 2.00pm. Former shipmates and friends who wish to attend will be most welcome.

Nigel concluded his career with Union-Castle as 2nd Purser Catering on "Windsor Castle" in 1977.

Nigel and Sheila had joined us at the Centenary Celebrations in Cape Town and until recently Nigel had marched with the Union-Castle section of the MN contingent at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday.

From Steve Moore

Aww bless ,so sorry to hear ,he was my catering officer onboard the SA VAAL from 1974 to 1977, he was absolutely brilliant, and when I was on P&O Ferries from Portsmouth, sadly missed

From Claire Hamerton

Thank you all for your kind words following the passing of Nigel Nussey. I’m Claire Shela’s Daughter.  Here is a more recent picture of Nigel & Mum taken Christmas 24.   He is already so very missed and will remain close to our hearts
