Message from Mike Morley - 3 March 2026

I have just received the sad news that Roy died on 27th February.after a very long tussle with cancer.

Roy joined U-C on 5th January 1959 - I know because three of us sat outside Boffin Baker's office on that Monday morning awaiting our introduction to our new lives. The third member of the party was Mike Peploe who died in South Africa 3 years ago.

Roy's service was on "Capetown Castle" and "Durban Castle" where he was promoted to Assistant Purser before transferring to "Pendennis Castle"  He left "Pendennis" to join Shaw Savill, but remained a strong supporter of our events.

In August last year, Roy phoned to tell me that his treatment was no longer working and he was moving to Brazil to spend his final days with his partner and their dogs.  May he rest in peace.
