John Holman Kerbey was born in Weabley on 13 May 1871 to William Holman Kerbey and Fanny Bradford.

Capt Kerbey was Master of Winchester Castle when she was stranded near Portland in 1936.  He was found to be at fault and resigned from the company.

He married Marjorie Wilkinson and had 4 children

He passed away on February 18 1944 in London.
